Build Your Own Rocking Chair

Hal

Just wanted to let you know how much you inspired me. I made my first Hal Taylor rocker two years ago for one of my daughters. I sent you a picture of the finished product. I then decided to make one each for the rest of my eight children and one for my wife. The attached picture shows me with the five rockers I just finished. Two are made out of black walnut. Two are made out of spalted sycamore and one out of quarter sawn white oak. I have four more to go with the last one for me.

Thank you for the inspiration, I have had much pleasure making them.

Build Your Own Rocking Chair $5,000

The Build Your Own Rocking Chair program allows you to participate in the building of a beautiful rocking chair which you can either take home with you at the end of eight days or I can ship it to your home.

During the eight days you will see the building process from start to finish and participate in the band sawing, hand planing joints sanding, grinding and finishing of your beautiful rocking chair.

Here are some Seminar students from the past.

Michael Grady Michael Grady, a physician from the Atlanta area. Michael is an accomplished rocking chair maker and is shown here with a child's rocking chair he made for his son Cole.
Bill Burns and Hal Taylor Bill Burns and Hal Taylor are having a good rest after making Bill's rocking chair. Bill is a retired Fire Chief out of Chicago.
Ronnie Hubble and his daughter Ronnie Hubble with a chair we made for his daughter who was, at the time expecting. Ronnie is "retired" and now has a band saw mill and solar kiln and cuts and dries his own lumber to make rocking chairs.
Jimmy MacMahon Jim MacMahon hails from sunny Florida and is a retired Advertising guru. Jim is an avid woodworker and turner and always seems to be busy with some project or other.
Philip Philip from Gadsden Alabama, a retired orthopedic surgeon. Philip is an accomplished woodworker and has a beautiful wood shop at his home in Gadsden. I told him that if anything ever happens to my shop I am moving to Gadsden!
Gil Grosvenor This is Gil Grosvenor, the most dedicated rocking chair maker I have ever known. He is also the fellow who shot all the video for my 10 hour rocking chair video. He is shown here, taking a well deserved rest after we finished the sanding on his daughter, Lexi's rocking chair. Gil is giving it a test rock here.
Daniel came to Rocking Chair University to build a chair for his wife and some time later made a rocking chair for himself. He is sitting in the chair he just completed which is his size. 6' 4", the chair in the background is the one we made for his wife, I can't recall the size but believe it is a medium. You can see his blog here: Daniel's blog.

When a student makes rocking chairs from my plans, seminar, byob or "make your own rocker" program I support them in any way I can. If you build a web site, I will put a link from my site to yours so potential customers can find you.
