Albert Einstein declared once that "Time was an illusion". He went on to state that it was, however, a VERY PERSISTENT illusion.
Thus it is that I find myself stuck in said 'persistent' illusion. I have lived a good life, having helped thousands of folks in myriad ways, the bulk of which were helping them to create beautiful rocking chairs for their family, friends and to sell in order to better care for their family.

A long time ago I graduated with a degree in biology/chemistry, but never worked for a second as a biologist, After graduation I went directly into electrical engineering, eventually becoming the manager of electrical engineering for Universal Dynamics in Woodbridge VA, a company that made equipment for the plastics industry.

Looking around at where I sit at this moment in time, I find myself to be 78 years old. Which, in my opinion is fine, BUT I do have some health issues that impede my continuing as a rocking chair maker: 1. I have prostate cancer, which is under control and not an issue for me. But, now-days, when I am in my shop I will find myself falling two or three times a week. I have always been a graceful 'faller' but falling in a woodshop is decidedly NOT a good thing to be doing. THUS, I will limit my chair making significantly going forward.
For starters, I will no longer be making my much loved StoryTime Rocking Chair. I will cancel most existing orders and will not be accepting any new. I will, going forward be making ONLY my regular rockers and am not sure how long I will continue making these.
I wish I had better news, but as my buddy Albert said, "Time is a VERY PERSISTENT illusion!

A couple of storyTime rocking chairs with their families!
Teaching a month long class to five exquisite ebonistas in Costa Rica
I started teaching the art of making rocking chairs about two years after I commenced making them for sale, around 1998. Persistent fellows would hang around the shop inquiring about the possibility until one day I thought "Why not?" The first couple of students were so happy at the completion of their chairs that I knew this was very worth my time doing.
Thus, I embarked, in a serious manner to make available, in shop mentoring along with materials I could send out to prospective builders, enabling them to make this rocking chair. Whether folks come to the shop or purchase the plans and make chairs at home, the satisfaction is significant. I have received emails from hundreds of builders over the years expressing their personal satisfaction at fulfilling one of their life long dreams. So now I am making my small contribution towards peace in this world we share, and I do not take my responsibility lightly! I stick with every student, through thick and thin, until they are rocking. I have never failed to respond to an email because the person was asking too many questions and I never will. My goodness! Time flies! If you are interested in making a beautiful rocking chair soon, drop me a note! As of Feb 2025 I will be 78 years young and don't know how many more years I will be teaching! I normally take students one on one but if you have a friend that would like to come and make a chair as well I can accommodate two students at once. Don't you think it is about time you made that rocking chair you have been dreaming about! Come on out, I'll leave the light on for you!
